Sound absorption

Within the discipline acoustics, there is often talk about sound absorption. With sound absorption is meant the breaking down of the sound waves. Hard materials reduce the sound waves to a lesser extent, while soft materials greatly degrade the sound waves. The breaking down of these sound waves is also called sound absorption. sound absorption is an important concept in the design of a room, as too low a sound absorption results in a too long reverberation. A too long reverberation can cause bad communication and can even lead to hearing damage. It is therefore very important to have enough sound-absorbing material and a space.

Material with a coarse structure, preferably of a type of fiber, has a very high sound absorption. Especially recycled jeans have an excellent high sound absorption, so Nyink uses this material in their acoustic panels to reduce reverberation in a room to an acceptable level. Usually a few square meters of sound-absorbing material can be sufficient to achieve an acceptable acoustics climate. Nyink can use a calculation to indicate how many m2 of sound-absorbing material is needed in a room to realize the acceptable acoustic climate.
